Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
Hello Everyone....

I have sent file for my husband's sponsorship to Mississauga in May 2014.
The option c printout i sent is showing my Marital Status as Single.
But somebody told me that i was supposed to change my marital status from single to Married before getting Option C Printout.
So that it could show married Status on My Option C Printout Info.
What should i do now.

Help Plz.
Thanks

Your option C printout is from the previous year assessment(2013) therefore it will show you single if you got married in 2014. When did you legally get married?

Then the Option C is correct.

Have you changed your marital status with CRA since you were married (on your CRA account information)?

That doesn't really matter. The CRA does NOT share your information with ANYONE, lest the CIC. Hence the reason WE must request and include the Option C. You submitted your 'marriage certificate' to prove your married (as required). Many Canadians don't update their marital status until they file taxes the following year.

It can get messy with Revenue Canada if you don't inform them soon that you changed your marital status... it looks like you did change it when you filed your taxes,
if you have not done so, I advise you to do it as soon as possible as it is your obligation to inform Revenue Canada of any change in marital status. I did not inform them fast enough and I got some issues, but they got solved.

When u file your T1 (Personal Income TAx return) you have to mention the marital status as on 31 Dec of each year. You can go online anytime and change your marital status, but your marital status on Assessments or Option C will always show your marital status as on 31st december
