Hi there!

Has anyone applied under the new Opportunities Ontario: Provincial Nominee Program (OOPNP) since February 2009?

I would like to get an idea about the timeline of this 2 step process (1. pre-screen employer application and 2. nominee application) and also about the likelyhood of positive/negative nominations.

I will update the following timeline throughout the next weeks and would be happy to see other applicants join this post with their Ontario PNP timeline.

Employer pre-Screen Application received by Opportunities Ontario: June 8, 2009

Hey,

You never completed your timelines ::).

I am asking about the last and most important step - applying to CIC for PR. I hope that you already got it. Will you share the info?

I am currently in the 2nd step of getting nominated by Ontario. It took exactly 3 months for my employer to get approved. I sent out the Nominee App in the first week of this month and am guessing it would take 3 months again. But I am not sure about the timelines for CIC to process my PR application.

Thanks.

Yea, we're on the same boat. It's shocking that they said it would take 30 weeks. As far I know, it should take 16-20 weeks (4-5 months). I saw somewhere written that you are not supposed to contact them re: your case till you get the AOR unless you need to change your address or something. I may contact them in June if I don't get my AOR by this time. Again, the total processing time has changed to 12 months as opposed to last year's 11 month.

Its the biggest mistake I have ever made filing my PR in buffalo. I should have filed it in new Delhi, their process in lightning quick. Everything is getting donw there in 3-4 months max.
I was a little circumspect because the Noinee forms directed me to file it in buffalo. As I went through both websites i.e CIC & Saskatchewan Immingation; they said you could file it in
1. either the country of ur nationality
or
2. the country of ur residence, given the fact that you have entered that country legally and hv been a resident for atleast a year.

I would suggest people of indian citizens to file it in new delhi then buffalo.
be in touch rossei.

Regards,
sam

I always wondered how one can apply for PNP from his/her own country. Well, you said it. I probably did not have the chance in first place as Bangladesh doesn't handle immigration. Buffalo single handedly process all types of immigration files from all over the world. Most of other neighboring consulates don't handle immigration cases until the files are transfered. As a result, things are getting slower every year.

Well, PNP used to be 6~8 months even 2 years back, it got to 11 months last year and recently the timeline has been changed to 12 months in Buffalo. This is utterly sad as a nominee has already gone through 4~6 months of pre-processing/ nomination program. The main remaining parts should be: background check, medical test and passport fulfillment.

I will keep in touch Sam. Good luck!

Hi,

I'm new to the forum.

I am looking on the PNP of each provinces and I noticed OOPNP is quite different. Based from their website, the employer will be the one that needs to initiate the process. So this means that a pre-arranged employment should already be in placed?

Based also from research, being outside Canada, Ontario specifically, is difficult to find jobs. Are there employers or industry who venturing to sponsor workers from abroad.

Thanks!

Finally some good news!
I was always stressed out for my PPR cz I am staying away from my fiance and its been hard to stday apart.
My fiance got approved for a visitor visa and she has been granted multiple entry till the end of my work permit, thats end of 2012.
Now I can breathe a little, and let Buffalo sleep like a Buffalo....they can take all the time thay want in this world to process my file.
I still have 18months left for my open grad work permit, and I have an option to hv a close work permit if they even take longer...i.e till 2013.
I wish ppl keep posting their experiences; We all know that PPR will be granted sooner or later....all we hate is to wait!.
Keep in touch guys!

Dude we Guys on these forum have submitted in early January and havent heared a word. I would advice you to relax and forget about any file number for another 6 months. They say its taking a minimum of 30 weeks just to get the medicals and the file number togeather.
You shouldnt expect anything by november-december range.
but keep in mind to check with your bank; to see if they have cashed your draft.... that means the file is in the que....usually taked 4-6 weeks for them to cash the demand draft..

Regards,
Sam
