Open work permit

Hello
My wife and I are moving from UK to Canada next year, Nova Scotia. I have been offered a full time job in a hardware store.
I plan on applying for an open work permit and at the same time apply for permanent residency.
Is this the best way to go?

Are you apply for the open work permit or your wife? What is the NOC of the job you have been offered in Canada?

You can apply for permanent residency at any time provided you meet the requirements.

How do you qualify for an OWP? You can't just move to Canada. You need the PR or at least WP first.
