OPEN WORK PERMIT

Hi everyone,

I applied for Family Class Sponsorship In-Canada Oct 2015. I live in QC.

MY MISTAKE: I did not know I had to include the application for the OWP in the envelope I sent to Mississauga so I wasted some precious months.

I haven´t heard from CIC yet, which (in this case) has benefitted me as I heard sponsorship applications made on OCT 2015 are suffering an unusual delay and OWP applications done at that time have been refused.

My question is...

Should I apply now for the OWP (looks like quite simple if I do it online), or should I wait till I hear from CIC before giving any further steps?

Do you still have legal status? If you do not, there's no reason to apply for the OWP; you will not qualify.

If you do have legal status, you can apply now. Make sure you pay the full amount ($255) which include the permit holder fee.

What do you mean with legal status? I have an enclosed Work Permit until Oct 2016
