Hello

Hope somebody could give me wise advice.

I run Out of Status in July and I applied for restoration same day. We were also preparing to apply to spousal sponsorship, we asked a lawyer about if send or not Open Work Permit, because technically being out of status it could be denied. He said no problem, so we sent all the application in September. Now in October, I received the restoration approved as a visitor, but I'm not sure what do next, or if I have to do something. I asked around and I gather following information.

1) Somebody's personal experience: Send the restored visa as an update of the full package Spousal documents and OWP sent to Mississauga, as they still didn't send you the Acknowledge of Receive.

2) Cic information phone: send a new work permit request to Vegreville, and explain the situation. Because the answer regarding the first (Mississauga one) is uncertain.

3) Everybody else: Don't do anything, they could see through their database the fact I have status restored.

I trust in the girl who told me about send papers to Missassagua as an update but maybe was just she has nice officer too, and through the CIC phone tell me not to do that. I trust also in CIC phone, but I listen also about people receiving bad advice from there.

Does somebody pass through this? Any opinion? Thanks in advance!!

So the main problem you're going to run into if you try to submit anything to Mississauga before receiving AOR is that they will have no way to join it with your application. 9 times out of 10 when people try doing this, the documents are returned to them in the mail because your application is not in the system yet and they are not able to find it to add your additional documents. (This actually happened to me, different situation, but I tried to submit a doc before receiving AOR and it was a no-go).

That being said, I would recommend waiting until you receive AOR and as soon as you get that, submit (either via web form or mail) an update on your legal status and make sure you include your UCI/app number so they can update your application. :) If you applied in September, it should be soon - inland apps are taking about 8 weeks for AOR at the moment.

Oh that's true, it has totally sense... Thanks a lot!

So do you think is better just to update full application when I'm connecting with them through AOR and not send another OWP? or just wait for the AOR number and send the OWP again using this number as a reference?

Thanks again!

Mind if I ask what happened with your work permit situation?
