Hi,
I just received my new open work permit through spousal sponsorship. Only problem is that it says I cannot work with children and I teach a class of special needs kids! I am currently on an IEC visa (which has a few months left on it, I had the medical exams done upfront and sent off with my application so I don't know why they made this mistake. My main question is does my new open work permit invalidate my old (non expired) work permit therefore meaning I can't continue to teach on the old one or can I just continue to work on the old one and send the paperwork to change the new one? Hope that makes sense I'm tried and been crying for a while trying to figure out what this means for me right now!

Unless it explicitly states that it invalidates previous work permits, then those permits are still valid until they expire. I would contact CIC to notify them that you did include the emedical. If they find an error, they can re-issue.

Your old Visa will be srill valid with the old circumstances. I think you could try CSE if it works with visa applications. (Case specific enquiry).

Otherwise you will need to ask for amendment. Please google 'amendment of visa" It's a paper application for fixing mistakes on valid Visas.

Did you do new medicals or you tried to use the old one?

I did a new medical in August when I applied

Did you include a copy of the proof of the medical with the OWP as well as the PR app or just with the PR app?

Yes I did. I called the cic this morning and they said that it is their mistake and they will send out a new (correct) work permit. Thanks to everyone for their answers and help!
