Hi all

I luckily received an open work permit through the International Experience Canada (IEC / Working Holiday) initiative and it's valid for 1 year.

Now, does this year start from the actual entry to Canada or from 1 year from the issue of the Port Of Entry (POE) letter through CIC online?

I am unsure because that would make people in the UK at a disadvantage of having less than their awarded 1 year time in Canada because they would now need to organise all the other criteria like insurance, plane ticket, wrap up their affairs, bank statement, etc, surely?

Date you enter Canada and the work permit is issued.

Thank you.

So here's the second thing.

I have been living in Canada as a visitor but now in order to get the permit I would have to leave Canada. No problem. BUT because this then means the clock is ticking for my 1 year allowance...should I or can I be able to seek employment (interview, etc) while just a visitor...get a job set up on the agreement of my invitation letter for POE is good and then flagpole the weekend before my first day at work? This would then allow me to work as much of my 1 year allowance as possible.

Can I do that? Or do employers INSIST on me having all the right documentation before I can even interview or apply?

We can't answer what employers do!
You need to ask them that
