I claimed refugee protection and I was declined. I also submitted sponsorship application as I met a wonderful canadian and I married him. I got the aip letter where states I can now apply for an open work permit on january. I applied for a work permit extension on Dec before the aip letter based on my refugee claim denied. I was expecting my work permit last week as per the processing times in CIC webpage but nevere arrived. I called immigration today and the lady at the call centre told me that it will take 12 more weeks to come to a desition, she did not have more information. Any ideas of why the WP is being delayed? Is this normal? Thank you.
