open study permit

We are taking our 3 minor children to Canada for 18 months. My husband and I are all set for our visas, but I am trying to wrestle the study visa application for the kids. I have 'heard' they should apply for an open study permit, but how do I fill out the application form ? Do I just leave the boxes blank where it asks for things like 'Name of School', 'Tuition fees', and 'how much money will you have available'
I can't validate the form if I do that ?
Anyone have any experience with this.
