i'm currently a live-in caregiver here in canada and i am a month away from completing my 24mos in the live-in caregiver program.
i have a few inquiries about getting an open work permit and PR.
1. can i apply for my open work permit 30days bfore i complete the 24mos?
2. when is the best time to apply for my PR?
3. I am single and i wish to sponsor my parents and sister (under 19) to come here to canada, when is the best time for me to sponsor them and what are the requirements?
4. can i instantly apply to work for another job outside the caregiver field once i get my open work permit? if yes, will this affect my PR application?

sorry for the questions but like everybody else, i just want to make sure that i am doing the right process before taking any action.

thanks for advance for the response!

1. No. You must wait until after you have submitted your PR application and have received confirmation from CIC that your application has been accepted for processing.
2. As soon as you meet the 2 year experience requirement.
3. You will have to wait until you are a PR before you will be able to sponsor your parents and any dependent siblings (so you're still several years away from being able to sponsor). In addition, you will have to meet the low income cut off requirements for at least three years in a row before you apply. You can find the low income cut off here (you will have to meet the income requirements for 4 people which is around $56K): http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/5772ETOC.asp#apply

At the time your parents application is submitted, your sister must be under 19 in order to be included in the application. Only 5,000 applications are accepted per year and this year the cap was reached in a day and a half. So you have to be ready to send your application in right at the start of January if you want any chance of it being accepted.
4. Yes - you can.

thanks for your responses!

i have one last question tho.. my visa on my passport will expire on Oct 2015. considering that i will apply for an open work permit before my visa expires, is there a need for me to apply for a new visa?
