Open bank account with American Dollars

Hi Everyone.

I will move next month to Canada and I wanted to know if it is possible to open a bank account in Canada using American Dollars (I mean in Cash). This is because the currency of my country is American Dollar so it wouldn' t be a problem for me to carry with me all my funds in that currency when I move. However, I don't know if banks in canada will accept to take that money in order to open my bank account.

They should. Don't forget to declare your cash if you are carrying more than CAD 10,000 or equivalent, when you arrive at the Port of Entry Customs.
