Everything happened for me in 3-4 days including the initial money transfer. When we landed here, our credit card, bank account and safety deposit box were ready. We made an appointment and set it up.

Yes, it is absolutely safe, I told the Immigration officer upon landing that I had wire transferred the money and offered to show him the receipt, but he didn't ask for it. Google Scotiabank StartRight and you would find all details. I posted the address in the above reply.

I have received my BANK account from SCOTIABANK through AIRMAIL.
thing is I called up the LOCAL scotia bank branch in INDIA and inquired with them, on how many days it would take to deposit the funds and if I have to visit the branch for collecting the receipt and letter which proves POF, then the BANK staff said they won't be providing any sort of letter or receipt and I don't have to come to the branch since has account has been opened directly. I am really confused at this point on how to transfer funds and get POF statement.

even though my Indian SBI bank will do funds transfer to my scotiabank account, will the receipt and letter FROM THE Indian SBI bank will be sufficient enough for POF ?

please give some advice.

they have it in - delhi,b'lore,mumbai,hyderabad,coimbatore.
you can directly open it from scotiabank.com and it takes 2 weeks - search for new comers program.

My wife and I are moving to Canada in October. Applied for the Scotiabank account online.

Can you provide some details about operating the account? What was the process for wire transfer, what were the charges apart from the conversion rate, was the conversion rate competitive?

What POF document were they able to give you to show as proof for landing procedure.

I opened an account each for me & my wife at Scotiabank Barakhamba road, New Delhi. Very friendly service, took less than 20 min and everything was done by the bank representative.
We opened two accounts because we get 2 different credit cards with $1000 limit each.
