Ontario PT received. Need help on "Family Ties" (Documentation)

Dear All,

I received Ontario PT yesterday.I am applying under FSW category.The process is clear to me. However, I need advice on one of the things which is really confusing me:-

My CRS is 440. FSW=74/100 (Including family tie); FSW=69/100 (Excluding family tie).

To prove family tie, I only have following documents:-

- Mother's Birth Certificate (Not Available atall)
- Mother's marriage certificate with father's name mentioned (Available)
- Uncle's (i.e. Mother's brother) Canadian Passport (Available)
- Uncle's marriage certificate with father's name mentioned (Available)
- Uncle's Canadian tax history (Available)
- My birth certificate with name of my mother and her father (available)

My question is:-

-Can I prove the tie on the basis of marriage certificates mentioning a common father?
-What else can I do to prove the relation?

In worst case scenario, if I update my profile and by answering that I do not have relative then my CRS will stay the same but in the background my FSW will come down to 69/100. Can I do this? I mean will the PT still hold true if I update my EE Profile that I do not have a relative.

Please guide/help me.

Thanks for your reply. Have already looked into the possibility. I am from Pakistan and normally here after marriage, a new passport has to be applied for which doesn't mention the name of the father (of my mother).

I think your above mentioned docs should be sufficient if they show common parents.

Do you think I should mention in LOE that my mother's birth certificate is not available? Or just write that I have only "this and this" available to prove the ties.

I am also from Pakistan. I submitted my mother and my uncle's matriculation certificate mentioning the name of my maternal-grand father and it is accepted and i got AOR.

I think StAnger is on point. To expand on it further, the documents you mentioned as available should suffice. Include a LOE explaining the situation. If possible, include a government issued document (local govt document should suffice, with legit stamps, signatures and all the frills that one can get in our dear South Asia) that certifies your mother's birth date. In addition, include a relationship certificate (i.e., an affidavit from your local government authorities) verifying the relationships of your mother and your uncle. I don't know much about Pakistan (or even India) but I am from South Asia (Nepal) and what we can get here is a letter from local government bodies that can state that a certain so-and-so and a certain-so-and-so's father is a certain so-and-so. I hope this makes sense and I hope this helps.

At the least, in my humble opinion, the documents you've mentioned, along with a LOE stating the facts (that the only documents you have proving the relationship (the nexus of your mother's and your uncle's marriage certificates and your own passport - the commonality there being your grandfather) should suffice.

Coming from a country and from an era where there was no formal system (and systematic issuance) of birth certificates, and having traveled and/or lived abroad in multiple countries, I have not faced any issues so far. I hope CIC is equally reasonable and accepts what we can offer.
