Dear i want to confirm about these 3 points , please update

I want to discuss the following things with the person who got the OWP and currently in Canada under the same FSW PNP Program .

Do you have the same restrictions on job like my friend :
1. Can only do the job with the same occupation that is specified on the work permit.
2. Can not apply health card until I don't have the job letter from an employer.
3. Can not apply health card for my family until we don't have the PR.

1. Can only do the job with the same occupation that is specified on the work permit.

This is an open work permit so you can work in any field but only in ONTARIO . But there are some restrictions as written on Work Permit Paper :

You Can not Attend any educational institute and take any academic , professional or vocational training course. ( Which means if you want to do this then you should have Study Permit not a Work Permit. ) But if your kids have Study permit they are allowed these facilities.

Not authorized to work in Following Fields:
Child Care, Primary or Secondary School Teaching, Health Services.

It also says :
Not valid for employment in businesses related to SEX TRADE such as STRIP CLUBS, MASSAGE PARLOURS or ESCORT SERVICES.


2. Can not apply health card until I don't have the job letter from an employer.

It is not true, Having a job offer is not linked with this Work Permit because it is an Open Work permit based upon your provincial nomination. You can apply for Health Card Immediately but the coverage for health card comes into effect : 3 Months after your landing date into Canada. e.g You land in Canada on 1 January 2013 your Health Card coverage will start from 1 April 2013. You should have your private medical insurance for Initial 3 months. This same rule applies to you even if you land in canada on a Permanent Resident Visa.


3. Can not apply health card for my family until we don't have the PR.

This is wrong. Additional family members ( Spouse, Kids ) who are coming along with you in Canada on this FSW-Open Work Permit on Visitor Visa, Work Permit Visa , Student Visa are eligible for Health Cards , but this 3 Month wait is applicable to all of the cases.

Create a profile on workopolis.com and ca.indeed.com , you can search various openings related to .Net. Try applying to those openings.

Getting a job depends upon on many factors

Your previous work experience and skills.
Your skill set if it is in demand.
And if you have previous Canadian work experience it helps a lot in finding a job.
And your luck it helps.

One more request, please update me ,dear let suppose i apply for FSW worker as " Software Engineer " and got OWP. and Now in Canada , i want to do job as Oracle Data Base Administrator.

its mean i have no restriction on doing job as Oracle DBA.

Regarding job situation : My answer is - It depends on many factors like

Your previous work experience and skills.

And if you have previous Canadian work experience it helps a lot in finding a job.

Dear All


I got email from CIC to go for medical test for myself and family memebers within 60 days.

To give you background of my case. i recd first AOR from CIC on Dec31, 2012 and have not yet received second AOR so far from Abu Dhabi which is my visa office. i have also not applied for OWP.

I am puzzled how i could get medical test request before getting second AOR. Also it says complete medical within 60 days. My family and i are travelling today to India and will come back here only after 45 days after school holidays. Is there anyway i can request an extension?

Is it possible to do medical in India if my visa office is Abu Dhabi or will it seem odd?

What are the fees for doing medical in india?

Hello All
Back to the forum after a long gap. I used the OWP route and moved to Canada on 8-Jun. Yet to get into a job. Most employers for permanent jobs wont consider our case saying that we are not residents. No point in trying to convince them saying our whole story. Contract jobs doesnt matter much.
I received Second AOR from Srilanka on 22-Apr and finally yesterday i got the request to pay RPRF fees to Delhi and then send to Colombo a copy of the payment receipt along with Proof of funds. They have given exactly one month for this. I also got an email asking me to do the medicals.
But i have already done the medicals on 16-Feb for processing the OWP. Can i get your comments on below please

1. Will Delhi send us the RPRF receipt in one month. My wife has couriered the DD to Delhi yesterday itself, with self addressed stamped return envelope. The DD amount for myself and wife was 51,940.
2. How to let Colombo know that medicals are done already as a part of the OWP processing for myself , wife and Kid

Hi Malisa,

You just have to put in where you were working thats all. Nothing more and if you have taken any holidays for more than 3months at a go, then include that too.. do you remember the background declaration form? just fill the personal history section in that format n a word doc n send it to them

Hi,

I'm new to this forum and already in Canada on OWP. My PR is in process and eCas status as Application Received.
I had visited the Service Ontario center and they have turned me down for OHIP eligibility. Candidates on OWP have to have a confirmed job in hand for atleast 6 months. Kindly clarify if people on OWP and their dependants be eligible for OHIP without job offer.

Anybody who is in Canada on OWP without a job offer and have been offered OHIP?

Hi Malisa,

NDVO asked me twice last month to fill the background declaration form. 1st time I missed one year in my education in typo error. So they asked me to again fill and send. So just ensure you do not miss even a single month when you are filling this form. If you abide with their requirements, you should be good.

4 days after they received my Background declaration for the 2nd time which was error free, I received MR and RPRF. You too will get to the next step soon.

You could do your medicals in India and I guess it would definitely be cheaper than anywhere abroad.

My visa office is NDVO, however I'm in USA now for work. So, I'll be doing my medicals in Chicago in coming week and the Dr. has e-medical so he will upload the reports in a weeks time. India should have similar process as well.

I received Medical Request and RPRF 2 days ago.
