Dear All,

My friend is received PR via PNP. The province that nominated him does not have many jobs and the people who immigrated are struggling to get a job in their field in the same province for the past several months. Most of them are still unemployed after 3+ months of job search.

He has applied for multiple jobs in the province that nominated him but never received an interview call.

Now when he was about to resign and move for good to canada (he works in an Indian MNC ) his company is offering him onsite in another province.

What should be done in this case? Will there be a problem in citizenship application?

Will only make one comment that regardless what your friends plans are after arriving in Canada given they applied through PNP they should plan to at least complete their initial landing in the PNP province. Obviously not always possible if no direct flights but important to show intent through onward travel to the PNP province given CBSA has the discretion to refuse a landing and only allow entry as a visitor.

As for applying for jobs from outside Canada would not be unusual to never get any response given employers are often unlikely to waste time on applicants from outside Canada until they are actually landed PRs. Just being in possession of a COPR does not mean much until the immigrant has actually landed in Canada and completed the immigration formalities to become a PR.

As for 3 months unemployed it often a fact that too many people expect to get off the plane and although not literally hope there will be employers lined up waiting for them when they exit immigration/customs. The PNP programs can at times be very misleading in giving impression certain jobs are in demand but reality can often be different and many immigrants highly skilled in their home country find themselves with a career change just to survive.

As for citizenship doubtful would have any impact given that would be a minimum of 3 years away plus once landed as a PR there is no law preventing a PR from living and working in any province.

Always best to move to the pnp province and show attempts to find employment for a few months and keep records of all that time. Given that the person will be working for the same employer it doesn't really show any attempt to relocate to the pop province. Best to have proof just in case it is asked for down the line.
