Hey guys,

I have a question about ONLINE masters degree. I need points for immigration under CEC, so I thought I could do a European online masters degree for 1 year in the meantime. Do online degrees count for immigration? I read on CIG website, under points calculator that:

"Note: a Canadian degree, diploma or certificate must either have been earned at an accredited Canadian university, college, trade or technical school, or other institute in Canada. Distance learning counts, but only if it made up less than half your study." This only applies to Canadian degree right? this statement:"Distance learning counts, but only if it made up less than half your study."

If let's say, I complete 1 years online master degree outside of Canada, will it count? Have any of you experienced this? How WES evaluated your degrees?

Thanks for guidance!

It depends which school you plan to attend. Certain online degrees are certainly recognized by WES.

Distance learning is tricky in this case because of the extra points afforded to Canadian education, and there's no way to track/control the location of distance education (not saying I agree with this, but...) Not sure if you could claim this as foreign education, tho? : )

An online degree outside of Canada, if recognized by WES or another ECA provider, would count, but as foreign education.
