hello,

Is there any big deal in buying a one way ticket for a visitors visa? we already filled in the form we submitted that she will be here for over one and half year.

Thanks

You haven't provided enough information.

If this is for a parent super visa, then one way is fine.

If this is for a regular visit visa, then you could have problems at Canadian immigration. But the bigger problem is that the airline might not even let that person board the plane to fly to Canada. A regular visit visa only allows a person to stay six months.

Get a two way ticket. The airline may not let her board with a one way ticket.

If you said on the visitor visa application that she plans to be in Canada for more than a year and a half, this will likely work against you in getting the visa approved. Visit visas are for those who have no plans to remain in Canada long term.

she has already been called for a medical test and I'm thinking the duration they will approve to her might be thesame as mine.

What is your status in Canada?

Are you a PR or citizen? Something else?

Difficult to answer questions accurately when you provide so little information.

Don't think that is convincing enough for a one way ticket.. Get a return ticket and save yourself a heap of trouble. Visitor is visitor, that means technically you have to leave again, as mentioned by most of here already.

Get a return ticket or she will be in trouble at the airport !

Although she hasnt get the visa yet but she has completed the medical test. But should incase the duration that will be approved to her is more than one year because I still have over one year to stay in canada, can I buy a one way? sine there is no return ticket for over one year

That is the point.. it does not matter whether medicals are done or not. In the eyes of the law she will be a visitor, the time of entry is the deciding factor. And as a visitor she can only stay 6 months, and with no legal right to stay longer a one way ticket does not work.

Even if she gets one year visa she will have to get out of Canada after 6 months and come back again so you better buy her 6 months return ticket and then again she can come and join you for the rest of visa validity !
