Hello everyone,

My partner and I know we have a long road ahead of us still in terms of the application process, but we were wondering if anyone can tell us if there is a deadline of when to move from the time you get the permanent residence accepted?

Just a bit of background; I am Canadian, and my partner is Irish. We are living in Ireland, and want to be in Canada by the end of the year. If, for whatever reason, the processing time goes extremely fast and we are approved before we actually intend to move, will there be any issues?

There is a date but it varies. From what I am hearing it is usually before the medical expires. The medicals can now be extended up to about a year. If your plans have you moving at the end of the year I wouldn't worry that much about it. Nothing is stopping you from landing and returning to pick up your belongings and finishing whatever unfinished business you have in Ireland.

The COPR is usually valid until the date the medicals expire or the date the applicant's passport expires, which ever is sooner.
