I'm pretty sure one way or the other we all became paranoid about this sponsorship process. For people who have already got their PRs, you're probably just laughing about it now.

For a lighter conversation, do you mind sharing your funny experiences from gathering documents, to sending the package, to waiting, to another waiting, and more waiting.....

Here's ours:
When I sent my UCI number to my husband, he called me and in a serious tone, he was like, "Im scared we have a bad UCI number, it has three 6s on it". I looked at the number and saw there was indeed three number 6s on it, but it looks like this :6XX6XXX6. It wasn't even three consecutive sixes. I started literally laughing about it, I didn't expect him to be that paranoid. I thought I was worse.

Last night, my husband checks his email on his phone and loudly goes, "CIC emailed me. Let's see. Oh, you've been rejected." :-\

My husband (my sponsor), bless him is rather clueless about the whole process (I'm the one who deals with the paperwork in the family lol).

When he got his new cell phone a couple months ago I linked it to my gmail account so whenever an email comes through he gets it too (he works away and its easier for him to read things direct than me try to explain things on the phone :) ) Now whenever our gmail account gets an email and I haven't read it for whatever reason - he'll text me and say "have you looked at your emails - you got one you know............!!!!" Then I get all excited and check and it never turns out to be from CIC.

I've even unsubscribed from various sites etc etc that I used to get emails from so that at least I know if one comes through it's going to be something slightly important!!!!!!!

This is a great thread and I could write a book about my paranoia! +1 to Iay for starting it.

To be honest, I was pretty much an ostrich with my head stuck in the sand about this process until I found this forum and then I became paranoid about EVERYTHING. I was so proud of our application until I started reading the thread about how people put their applications together and all of the supporting documentation they sent in. The size of them scared me the most! All of a sudden the application that I poured my time, energy, heart, and soul into seemed like nothing in comparison to theirs. I beat myself up for a long time that I hadn't found this forum until AFTER I submitted the application.

I can't wait to read what others have to say about this topic! I'm sure I'll be laughing and agreeing with a lot of the posts.

We got Stage 1 recently, so I knew there was no way my app had been processed yet. He was just being a weenie and I'm used to his "jokes."

I do have to go tomorrow and fax Ottawa a corrected form :/

This thread some potential to be awesome :D

hahahaha I was exactly the same - seeing everyone sending in hundreds of photos when I think I sent in about 20, I remember thinking OMG CIC are going to think we are rarely together (or at least without a drink in our hands of which I had loads but didn't want them to think we were alcoholics!!!!!! ;) )

They should be aware the process makes us alcoholics.

Oh I have a terrible husband too when it comes to checking email. And yes, I had to unsubscribe to a lot of sites too.
I know I've said it somewhere here, but whenever I get a personal message from someone here in the forum, the email sender would be like "Canada Immigration Forum" and the quick view will only show "Canada Immigration". My heart jumps every time I see this, especially when I was still waiting for my AOR, I didn't have an idea how CIC email looks like.

Thanks Navaeha. That's totally true! I was a bit paranoid about my package and the paranoia just got worse when I started reading about the oh so organized application of other members. Good thing I could relate to some people who already got their PR and had almost the same preparation as I did.

Keep sharing your experiences! :D

I haven't been yet. But I still have a long way to go, so I wouldn't be surprised. LOL.

I got a brown envelope in the mail today and my heart nearly stopped beating, until I read it and it was from Revenue Canada.

Well at least one government department know I'm still alive :p

I had already sent my application off and I was up late reading the forums.. when I read something that you have to pay a fee for all dependents whether accompanying or not! I totally panicked and went online and made a payment of about $300. The next morning I read something else so I called CIC. It turns out the information was wrong.. and they said they will automatically refund me.. after 3 months :'(

Oh Lord. Where to begin....

My most FRUSTRATING moment is actually due to this forum LOL... so we all know the forum sign in is linked to our email... so the first time someone sent me a private message, I got an EMAIL that said it was from

"CIC Immigration Forum".. well, I didn't think anything about the whole forum part of that title, I just saw CIC Immigration and I started FREAKING out... I was like.. "Is it good?! Is it bad?! That was very fast after Stage 2 AOR... I hope it's not a rejection" and my mind went through a million emotions.. and I finally clicked on it and it said,

"You have received a message on the forum from... " LOL... and it was just sumthing silly the person messaged me about...

I juuuuust about threw my laptop through the window that day....
