:(Hi,,shecame here in Canada about 3 years ago. she was in a relationship with a boy back home, he tried a lot of time for canada, but got rejected. he was in touch with this girl she was very young she was 19 that time. then she took a wrong decision, whether she was homesick or what, but she is ashamed of her this step. shewent to India , didnt even let her family that she came there, married him, but her family didnt knew anything about it till now. the thing is that she was 21 that time , and he was about to turned 21. they got married on dec19, 2012, and his birthdate is jan 28,1992. so he was underage they didnt register their marriage at that point.and she came back with status in canada was single. after sometime she found that this guy only motive was come to Canada. so she took a decision and broke all relations with him. but her family still doesnt know what she did and she is really scared of telling them anything. after her marriage as she didnt register anything backhome her status is single in Canada, she applied for extension of study permit as single. what should she do, if go back india and tell her family and dissolve this marriage, then what she is going to explain to Canadian govt ? she can't afford to go back because her family is not a wealthy family and her family sees a hope in her. shedid a mistake. but please help some hopeful decision for her .as the marriage was not registered , she didnt had any prrof to show it to the govt. and then after that conflicts occur and she broke all relations with the guy and his family. what can be the best suggestion for her, as when she came to canada she was single. inbetween went to india got married but didnt register it, after coming here found that guy never loved her , she made a decision to leave him, and she still on a status as a single . what will be best for her do, please reply . m worried for her, and till i found the best answer on this website.

No one has any answer on this situtation, not even a idea :(

the story does not show exactly where is the problem and how it relates to canada immigration/settlement.

you mentioned that she left the guy and now she's studying in canada on a study permit which states she's single and also her marriage in india was not registered.

so where is the problem here?

she came in 2011 at that time she was single. then in 2012 went back india and got married , but didnt register her marriage. so she didnt had any proof to show it to the govt of canada . so her status she never changed it to married. and after sometime she found out that guy only motive was to come here, so she broke all relations with him. but she is just concerned that this can affect her future in Canada. i mean that guy was underage , so they didnt register the marriage . and then all the conflicts happened. this where the main concern is, that if in future if she files against the nullity of her marriage . as he was underage. she has to give any explanation to govt. of Canada ? because the guy and his family have photos of marriage and video.

in my opinion what proves a marriage is the legal document...if there is no legal document, it means there is no marriage.

I also don't think she can file against a marriage which did not exist "in paper"...with regards to that guy - without him
having a marriage document in hand, i don't think the video would be of relevance.

but lets see the views of other members as well,
