Hi,
I'm wondering anyone can share the experience?
My current I94 is with my Chinese passport, and I'm taking the oath in Canada this week.
I'm wondering if I return US with Canadian passport(presenting L1 visa on Chinese passport), how would this work?

Thanks

If you enter with Canadian passport it might be a totally new entry and you might get new i94 to enter.

You can present your Chinese passport still on entry to the USA. You must however use your Canadian passport to enter Canada.

Are you sure? China doesn't permit dual citizenship. He will automatically lose his Chinese citizenship once he receives his Canadian citizenship.. so the passport associated with Chinese citizenship is no more valid.

That's between him and China, and you may be correct. From the Canadian perspective, dual citizenship is permitted..

Canadians don't require a Visa. So you can simply use the L1 petition approval notice and Canadian passport to return in L1 status and get a new I-94.

See the words about approval. I believe even the petition receipt notice with state I-797.
Between I-129S (blanket) and I-797, the latter is the approval notice. OP is not likely to have I-797 receipt for a blanket petition. But yes, even receipt notices are sent on I-797 form. That's why I always refer to forms using what they are rather than a number.

Good to know there being a distinction between blanket and individual. Never been in the former situation.
