Hi,
I am a canadian citizen since 1999.
I applied for Old Age Security 6 months ago (!) and I received today a letter requesting some clarifications and copies of some immigration documents related to when I first came to Canada in 1987.
I've digged in my archives and I finally I found 2 original documents:

Document 1.- "Record of Landing" with a remark reading (field 39) "Inland Application. Five year sponsorship . St John's NF file #xxxx-xxxxx"
Also field 35 reads "Original entry: Jan-13-87 and field 45 reads "Landed on Aug-12-88"

Document 2.- "Permit to come into or remain in Canada" dated Aug-27-87 valid for one year until Aug-26-88.

Service Canada questions are specifically:

a.- "What was the reason for the delay between the date you entered Canada and the date you landed?" I'm not sure what to respond. I came as a tourist first, then I recall getting at least one extension (see above in document 2).
After meeting my late wife we married months later and we decided to apply for my residence with her sponsorship.
Would this be the answer that they are looking for?

b.- "On what date did you apply for permanent (landed) status in Canada?". Is the "Record of Landing" (document 1) the 'application' that they are referring to?

Maybe some of this seems obvious but I just want to make sure I send the right information and not to risk another 6 months of delay ....

Please let me know if I need to apply for copies of any other records and what forms would they be?

Thank you
