American Inland CL Sponsorship applicant.
#*%$^ @ !!!!!!!!!
I called to get clarification on a couple of, what turned out to be very minor points, regarding my Inland CL sponsorship application...one of which was regarding the OWP application. Because I am out of status [hence Inland application] I mentioned that the available space in the field for the question that asks about current status isn't large enough to type in my answer. The instructions clearly say to write: Out of status, requires restoration. However, I told the person that the field on the PDF form doesn't allow that many characters, when typing, so could I abbreviate this, somehow, before validating the form. She suggested that I write Out of status-Restoration. Simple enough.
But THEN she mentioned that this was only for those within the 90 day window of being Out of status, with an eligible sponsor. Uh...This is reminiscent of a call I placed to CIC last week, but I won't go there...again. We `debated' this for a few minutes, after she read the section that indicates that those Out of status can apply, regardless of status provided they have an eligible sponsor. I said that my sponsor is eligible until deemed approved or denied. We both agreed that this was a gray area, as there's no clear definition on the word eligible...apparently.
She advised against me sending an OWP application to minimize the risk of being issued a removal order before we receive AIP. Now, since I don't need the OWP, as I have no need to work in Canada anytime soon, I suppose I should head the warning?!?!?!
*edit* I thought that by sending the OWP in the same envelope as the sponsorship application, everything would be opened MONTHS after receiving an AOR. If so, and the approval for sponsor doesn't really take that long once they start (seems like the majority of stage 1 wait is before they even look at the application...sitting in a pile somewhere) perhaps the OWP doesn't increase the chance of a removal order process to begin after all. Maybe?? *end of edit*
If ANYONE has knowledge of a visa exempt Inland applicant, Out of status (beyond 90 days) that has successfully received their OWP w/o any removal order issues, please chime in.
Thanks
