Oinp passport expiry date

Any one know someone who got aor, nomination with passport that expires less than 2 years? (Oinp requirement). Mine expires in a year.

If you have an Indian passport, then it can be renewed only within 12 months of the expiry date and not before that. I hope you have included a LOE in your application package stating the same about your passport.

Yes, me. I sent a letter of explanation as there was a big backlog in the passport releases in my country that would take up to 4-6 months. Basically, I could not have renewed it in time to meet the OINP deadline.

If you presented an LoE with your application, then no need to worry. If you didn't, try to follow up by emailing and hope they accept it.

On the Indian passport services website, it is clearly mentioned 12 months.

Please let me know what you did about this situation. I am in a similar situation but not yet sent them a LOE to them. Planning to send them an email and explaining it. But then I wonder doing that will cause unnecessary attention towards it.
