I’m just filing US taxes for the first time while living in Canada. Does anyone know if UHIP and OHIP qualify for essential minimum coverage under the ACA (Obamacare)? We moved in the middle of summer 2017- my wife got ohip 3 months later and I got it in February 2018. Through her job, we got full coverage via uhip from the day we arrived. So, can we say we had health coverage all year on our US taxes? I don’t know if we qualify for an exemption.
