I have a question about OHIP. My husband just received his OHIP card in the mail, and he begins his coverage on Sunday (3 months after landing). His OHIP number is followed by 2 letters, BY. What does this mean? Is this something that all PRs have on their OHIP cards???

No it has nothing to do with PR. I think it has to do with how many cards have been issued. I have it on my health card.

Don't worry about it.

It's something that is on EVERYONE'S health card. Even Citizens.

Oh my goodness. You're right! Only in the last couple months did I get the "new" health card from the old red and white ones because I added my married name. I didn't even realilze that, even though my number remained the same, it also has 2 letters following it now.

Thanks for the clarification!

It's called a "version code". It's on everyone's Health card who do not still have the old 'red and white' ones. We have to choose "No version code" when using one of those.
