You'll qualify for OHIP three months after you return to Canada. You will need to pay for everything yourself during the first three months in Canada.

In montreal also we should wait for 3 months ?or their system cover pregnancy emergency during this3 months?
Thank you

You have to wait 3 months and then STAY for another 3-4 months else they can make you pay.

There are residency requirements for healthcare in each province that are not the same as residency requirements for PR. You must become a resident of most province and live there for over 6 months to have healthcare coverage. If you leave earlier you can be asked to pay back all the costs. For example to have OHIP coverage as a PR you need to wait 3 months but you also have to settle in Ontario and stay over 6 mo the. The provinces are looking at pregnant women in particular.

Who qualifies
To qualify for OHIP, you must meet all of the minimum qualifications listed below plus at least oneof the additional requirements.

To meet the minimum qualifications you must:

  • be physically in Ontario for 153 days in any 12‑month period
  • be physically in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately after you began living in the province
  • make Ontario your primary home

Why?wait for 6 months?
But in RAMQ in Montreal I read during 3 month pregnancy termination will be paid.

Because you can’t just use Canadian taxpayer money to get a free birth and then leave.

To clarify, you need to wait 3 months before you can be eligible for RAMQ and then you cannot leave Quebec until another 3 to 4 months later.

I want to live there.I said montreal because my aunt and uncle are there.but anywhere I go ,I rent an apartment,my another baby go to kindergarden.
And also I bring enough money.
I m an obstetrician specialist in my own country. My husband is a cardiologist.
With all of these I should wait 6 months?for insurance?

Confusing. Your first post asks about OHIP. Once told you need to wait 3 months is when you switched to Quebec. You being an obstetrician or your husband a cardiologist has nothing to do with insurance here. I will repeat it one last time.

1. You need to wait 3 months to be eligible for health insurance.

2. You cannot leave for another 3 to 4 months on top of the first 3 months. Meaning, if you give birth and then Your baby is not even 3 months old yet and you leave, Quebec will go after you to repay your birth costs.

Considering both you and your husband are unlikely to be able to ever work as doctors in Canada and you haven’t met your RO this is more like birth tourism. It doesn’t seem like you ever intend on moving to Canada or working in Canada so using the health system without contributing is extremely frustrating to most citizens and PRs who work and pay taxes for healthcare and schooling.

When did you land in Canada and how long have you spent in Canada? When does your PR expire?
