hi all,

I moved to Canada in end of May 2019 so my 6 months will be done in Nov 2019.

I travel to the US very frequently and sometimes spend a couple of days in the US.

My question is what counts as a day in Canada. I usually leave Sunday and am
back Tuesday or Wednesday. I work full-time in Toronto and travel for business.

Is Sunday and Wednesday counted here towards the OHIP requirement? Can anyone confirm?

Thanks!

Ohip residency requirements:
 you make your primary place of residence in Ontario; and generally,
 you are in Ontario for at least 153 days of the first 183 days immediately following the date you establish residence in Ontario (you cannot be absent for more than 30 days during the first 6 months of residence); and
 you are in Ontario for at least 153 days in any 12-month period.

With all that travelling have you been able to meet the being in Ontario for the first 153 days of 183 days?

For any physical presence the day you leave and the day you return are generally considered days in Canada but you still need to meet the requirement as stated above.

Thanks for responding.
Yes I can meet these. I don't travel every week I travel every 2-3 weeks. As of now I have been outside Ontario only for 5 days in the last 3 months but I expect my travel to increase so I wanted to check if days you leave and return will be counted as days in canada

Thanks! If days in and out are counted, I should be able to meet the requirements.
