I just got a call from CIC with no caller ID for my request to expedite the process. Is it normal to receive a call from an anonymous number. I gave them all the details they needed. Hopefully, my oath ceremony will be soon.

I saw another person who said they were called. I don't respond to calls I don't recognize, and I am not sure if phones calls at all secure for giving out private information. Is this a new strategy IRCC following?

Since pandemic started, they started calling. Its been there for a year which i am seeing when they started with online oath last year.

I realized they had been calling for more than a week.

I generally don’t respond to no caller id calls especially during work hours. I randomly for no reason picked up amd it was cic.

they had info that only someone with myapplication would have so seems it was legit. He said I’ll get an email for the oath ceremony soon. No change in status online yet.

Yes most wont pickup. Its the most informal(or least formal) way to communicate, that too from ircc.

30. July - Citizenship test invitation
01. August - Pass Citizenship Test.

Nothing is updated in online tracker, still says waiting on me. Is this normal? How long it takes to update the results usually?

It depends on how quickly the officer reviews the test(or possibly till the test window date range it will show the message)

logged in today and another update on Aug 2nd.. it said citizenship oath is in progress and another update says

I am surprised they scheduled so far in advance.. We haven't received an actual email with an invite as of yet but I hear it can take a few weeks? Super happy alteast there is a date but has anyone else gotten an invite for so far in advance. We live in North Bay, ON and previous correspondence is from Scarborough office.. even though I think Sudbury, ON would be our closest.. maybe by November they will be resuming the Oaths in Sudbury?

Yeah, you're in line for oath now but "when" can't be answered, at least not accurately. The time for oath varies from applicant to applicant.

We got an update Aug 2.. so didn't wait long for that to update.. but the oath is scheduled on Nov 4, 2021..

That's no good news. I receive calls from strange numbers all the time, but I don't respond assuming they are scams, and I let it go my voice mail, but whoever is calling doesn't leave a message. Do they leave voice mail if no one answers?

So they called you only to tell you will receive an email for the oath ceremony soon?

Yes most wont pickup. Its the most informal(or least formal) way to communicate, that too from ircc.

I don't like this approach at all. It's not formal communications for a formal application. Maybe they are probing to see if the person in Canada?

No, all calls were for interview/oath related only. I doubt that they would take up any additional task when they dont even do the required verification on eligibility fast(i meant normal speed).

During interview, candidates do tell whereabouts such as US etc and no issues.

Pandemic work from home has altered their work nature.

What do you mean by "for interview/oath related only"? What exactly the nature of these calls, and are they crucial?

THey are crucial is the worry. They ask if that interview date or oath date is ok or something related to it or on some family application related(issue with one of the family member application among the bunch).
Thats why we can see some posts saying they wouldnt want to miss it.

They will send email in most cases i hope but we know that if we miss their mood of working then we dont know when they will touch the file again and not all officers will email right away if they couldnt get us on phone.

Do they call from recognized numbers or "no caller ID", to be on the lookout?
