Hi everyone
I am a permanent resident in Canada and I am the sponsor and my husband who lives in Pakistan is principal applicant so I would count as outland application right?
I applied on Oct 11, 2017 through registered canada post mail and tracking shows it delivered on Oct 12, 2017. So thatès okay right? I didn't receive any email or notification yet that they receive it and due to Oct application i didn't sign up for text msg as service was no longer working i read it on website.

Also can someone please point out all steps that I should be ready and prepared for in advance while waiting and can somebody please describe full forms of abbreviations people use regarding the case/application procedures.
Thanks

You should receive AOR1 (Acknowledgement Of Receipt) from CIC once they actually open your file within 4-8 weeks after receiving it.
They will give you all the information you need in that email to link your application to your CIC account (i.e. application #, UCI, etc.)
Then you have to be approved as a sponsor, usually another couple of weeks.
They will email you once you are approved as a sponsor. They send out medical and PCC (police clearance certificate) request 1-2 weeks after that.
Once all of that has been submitted, you just wait for the file to be transferred to your local VO (Visa Office). It would be Lahore in your case. This can take upto 6-8 weeks.
VO usually sends out AOR2 once they receive your file and start processing it. Then you just wait for them to do checks on your relationship and background check for your spouse. This step usually takes the longest, 2-4 months. If everything looks good, they will request your spouse's passport for visa.

Please keep in mind that these times are estimates only based on previous cases.

Wish you luckxx

If you only submitted 5 days ago you have quite a number of weeks ahead before you can expect to hear anything, so don't stress.
