something i was wondering: it's already been more than 6 months since the police certificate i included with my application was produced. now that my background check has started, is CIC likely to ask me for a new one?

I believe it just needs to have been done no sooner than 6 months before they received your application. But it may depend on your VO and country of citizenship? I could be wrong, of course.

Just making a guess, but it probably does depend on the county the certificate came from since that would determine how long it is valid? The Brazilian ones are only valid for 90 days, for example, so it makes sense they would ask for another one from my husband (though the other poster going through the Sao Paulo VO here doesn't seem to have been asked for another one, so perhaps my theory is invalid!)

no, as long as they received your report within 6 mo. of the issuing date, it is unlikely they will request a new one.

no, it doesn't matter how long the the country who issues the report considers the report valid, IRCC goes by their own validity rules. the validity rules suggest the report must be received within 6 mo. of it being issued, if the person is still in that country or has returned to the country since it was issued). If the person has not returned to that country since, then i believe IRCC considers it valid indefinitely.

So I checked ECAS last night and it says Decision Made. Not sure when that happened because I haven't checked it for several days.

Today, my wife (applicant) received an automated email from Manila VO saying "You are eligible to register for pre-arrival services" etc. However, we still haven't received a passport request (PPR) email yet. Weird.

Anyone else have something similar happen?

As mentioned above, our background check started. But I noticed today that the "We are waiting for documents..." etc. thing hasn't gone away, even though they got the documents which allowed them to start the background check. Should I be concerned? Has anyone experienced this?

Also, for future reference for QC applicants, it looks like we were sent both copies of the CSQ to our home address - the one meant for immigration as well as the one for us (one was specifically labeled for the immigration offices of Canada). This may have been why we were specifically asked for a copy of the CSQ, or it could have been from delays at MIDI. Just something to keep in mind for those who are not there yet.

Hi, I'm also applying from Quebec. I also received both copies. Do you suggest that I should send one to the immigration office (mine is in HongKong)?

Thanks

It may be a good idea to at least send an electronic copy, that is what we did and it was accepted.

At which website should I send it? Do I log on the CIC website and upload it there or should I send one physical letter to HongKong?

They requested documents from us last week, we provided them, and ours still says the background check hasn't started them. I would guess that the status on the website varies significantly according to the agent, and whether or not they have bothered to update it lately ;D

In either case, I doubt it's anything to seriously worry about.

My husband and I also never received an official AOR2 notification, but they definitely received it in Sao Paulo. So while there are "rules" about when we can expect to hear from them and in what way, they seem to play fast and loose within those "rules" ;)

You should be able to email it, look up your VO on CIC and they should have contact info for you for uploading documents :)
