Dang, that seems like a crazy long time. I feel like when CIC chooses to find an issue with an application, it's almost the kiss of death for increasing processing times. I hope your SA comes through today or Monday.
I wonder too if Canadian-born individuals get approved for sponsorship quicker. Maybe there's less to scrutinize because their right to sponsor is immediately apparent based on their birth certificate? Obviously I have no idea what happens in the CIC or how things work, it's just a thought I had.

I'll find out. :-\ I'm a newly minted citizen born abroad, though my citizenship is retroactive to my birthdate. I mailed in my families package, within a week of my certificate arriving to me ;D

no, there is no concrete evidence to point out that canadian sponsors have quicker processing times than pr sponsors just because they are "canadian born". the length of time is related to the amount of applications received, the number of agents working on applications, how complete the application is, and how quickly CIC can get background checks completed for sponsors. perhaps it is *easier* for CIC to confirm security and criminal records of someone who was born in canada vs someone not, so that may contribute to wait times. it's not that CIC purposely and maliciously says "hey this person is canadian born and bred, we are going to process him and all the rest like him first.".

Just to clarify, I did not mean to suggest that anyone was giving Canadian-born individuals preferential treatment. Just that background checks etc might get done quicker leading to a quicker approval for sponsorship.

This Canadian born and bred gal sponsoring her hubby. CIC ask us for marriage document and more proof. We been waiting 67 days. And we already wait original 43 days. We will wait like anyone else, the frustrating part is no consistency to CIC's processing. I was reading about other spreadsheets. Obviously not everyone applying is on them. But December's has over 130 applicants.

Did you apply without a marriage document? What other proof did you wind up sending them?

I'm Canadian born and submitted what I thought was a straight forward sponsorship application. After the initial 55 days or whatever it was in May 2014, CIC-M asked for what they called "missing information". It wasn't missing at all but in fact additional information over and above what the instructions on the website call for. They wanted additional proof that I was actually divorced. Apparently a certified copy of my Divorce Certificate wasn't enough. They wanted the Divorce Order and the Divorce Application. They also asked for proof of Family Support payments over a certain time period. I submitted all that then after another 40 days or so they then asked for "additional" information regarding more proof of Family Support payments, over a different time period. However, I was divorced with three kids, whom I have an obligation to make child support payments to, so I guess CIC just needed to be sure I wasn't defaulting, because that would result in an automatic refusal of SA. Finally I received SA after a whopping 156 days. A new record from what I can see. . So if you have a similar situation, be prepared.

Did that request come across today? I'm one day behind you in the wait, not that I'm assuming they actually go in true order ;)

I didn't get a divorce certificate, so I had to order my divorce decree from Florida. It outlines the terms of the divorce with judges signature on the last page. It sounds like that is more what they're interested in. There was someone else from BC who submitted his cert and they requested the court papers.

No of course we sent in certified translated marriage document. In English...and a copy of Arabic. They received application on September 12. CIC ask for marriage doc and more proof in an email Oct.21. So I send my lawyer a scan of Arabic, my current itinerary as I was back in Morocco again. And about 20 more photos. So I believe they received that Oct.27. I hired a lawyer thiking it would help to keep documents from going missing or what have you. Am thinking next week to hear something

Thank you
Why so early? I think you would not get any information from this enquiry. You also need your file number, which you would get when you get your SA. From what I have observed from the forum is that people do this enquiry if they dont receive any response for about 4-5 months after their file has transferred to their local VO. It takes 30 days to get a reply, and it is likely that your file might not have been reviewed yet and you would not get any thing from this enquiry.
