Today I got an email from CPC-Ottawa. My wife (who is my sponsor) was cc'd.

However, the email was addressed to a different applicant -- someone I don't know. It contained this person's full name, telephone and fax numbers, email address, and UCI number.

This applicant's UCI and mine are nearly identical, which must be the source of the error. Still, I'm shocked. How could the CIC mistakenly send out such personal information? It made me wonder how safe my own application is.

I wrote back to CPC-O, informing them of the error. No response yet. I considered forwarding the email to the proper applicant, but decided to let the CIC handle it.

Is there a place to lodge a formal complaint?

So I heard back from CPC-Ottawa today. The officer apologized for sending me someone else's file information, and then sent me my own update.

Apparently, in spite of the fact that my wife has already been approved as my sponsor, they need proof that she still resides in Canada. They message said this:

"Evidence that your sponsor resides in Canada, or has taken steps to re-establish residence in Canada. This includes but is not limited to: pay stubs, T4 slips, utility bills, banking history, employment letters, lease agreements, etc."

For those of you who have had this experience,
-what kind of evidence is most convincing?
-how many files should I send?
-should I send these via email and via post? Or just one or the other? (The message was unclear about this)

I got the same request before. I was approved as a sponsor but still needed to prove I was planning to re-establish in Canada.

Is your wife in Canada? Luckily we had already moved to Canada so I was able to provide:
-my employment letter
-most recent visa statements and bank statements
-Cell phone contract (new activation) and bill
-my flight ticket to Canada
-Internet bill
-rent /lease agreement

I think they request this because of the time difference from sponsor approval to now. I would express mail all the documents including the request letter they sent you to to manila.

They approved and sent out her COPR the day they received all my documents so I think they will have probably finished looking through your file and this is the last step they need before they send out the COPR.

My partner is in Hungary. Our application is a bit complicated as he is a failed Roma refugee. Vienna has had our application since October 15, 2013. We check eCase once week, but it has not gone from application received to In Progress to Decision Made for over a year. We did order the Electronic Case notes last August, but it only indicated Vienna had received our application, no work has been done on it.

We paid the PR card fee March 2014 we got letter VO had received it and it said about 13 months or more.
