Don't know, we are planning to apply around 20th August when my wife's IELTS results come in.

With the 1000 limit cap on each NOC category and total cap of 20,000, I'd suggest that October may be leaving it quite late. If you are able to get your documents + application together before then (like September at the latest) you will probably have a better chance to be accepted.

Anyone who are planning to apply in October...

Their will be nothing left to apply for in October. ;)
Better do it now... 1000 caps are filling up fast for most NOC's.

Well, all we can do is guess. Applications are almost certainly coming in at a much slower rate than last year, because applicants must gather a considerable number of documents before applying. They also seem to be stricter now based on feedback here, which means more borderline applications are probably being turned down.

I think someone projected that this year (June 26 2010 to July 01 2011) they will approve approximately half of the total applications including family that they did last year under FSW1. And last year it took the entire year to get to that total. So it's reasonable to think that it would take at least until Christmas for all 20,000 to be approved.

Once again this is just guesswork, but even as late as October IMO there is still a chance. Depends on your NOC ofc, but I would be surprised if the 20,000 limit has been hit by then.
