After two difficult years, we decided to book a trip to finally see the family, we are leaving on Oct 23th, yesterday we checked the application and guess what, we have the oath ceremony on Oct 21!!!! now, I don’t know what to do, as we won’t have our PR card to comeback to the country and not enough time to apply for a passport. Any suggestions?

We applied on February 2020, passed test on July 2021. I can’t postpone tickets as hole family is flying to meet us half way in Mexico.

Postpone your travel that's the best option. You'll get passport within a month of completing your oath. Whereas if you postpone ur oath, heaven's alone knows when you'll get the next date

If you can't postpone your tickets then you need to postpone your oath.

^ If it takes 4-6 weeks for in-Canada passport processing (based on the passport thread), expect that to take longer when applying at a consulate outside Canada. OP mentioned they're away for 3 weeks, and this doesn't seem like an urgent situation.

Yeah, I agree with this unfortunately.

If OP was outside of Canada for 2-3 months, then I would say that applying for a passport outside of Canada should be doable.

However with only 3 weeks, I don't think it's doable.

I hate the fact that we have to physically check the new tracker everyday. I will be travelling soon but if my oath comes I will definitely postpone my trip knowing IRCC “speedy” processing time.

Did you manage to apply for the passport abroad? I am in a similar situation and would love to hear your input. I moved from Canada to The Netherlands and would like to apply for my first time passport from the Netherlands. My husband will mail me the citizenship certificate, I contacted the embassy and they mentioned they could issue a passport once I get the certificate. I just want to make sure this is possible. I appreciate any lead on this.
