I have a question: Old Age Security is calculated as a proportion of the number of years that one has lived in Canada after turning 18. For myself, that includes the following periods:
1990 - 1994: International student at U of T
2010 - present: permanent resident/soon-to-be-citizen
So when I'm old, would my OAS include 4 years when I was an international student? I was older than 18, I lived in Canada . . . but I didn't have any permanent status then, and came back later in middle age. The Service Canada web site doesn't offer any real nuances.
