NYC application timeline

Hello just thought I would post my timeline here in case it'd be helpful. Looks like the NYC office is pretty fast.



Country from: Turkey
Reason: Business

Applied online: November 17
(I put in more info than requested. Financials, all my previous trips and visas, etc).
Passport request: December 9

Sent passport to NYC Consulate: December 13
Consulate received my passport: December 16

Return label activated: December 19
Delivered to me: December 20

Total duration: 23 days

Just so everybody knows, all ONLINE TRV applications made from North America are processed in CPP-Ottawa, not in local consulates. Local consulates only stamp visas in passport.

I applied for visitor's visa online from the US in November 9th and haven't heard back yet. I emailed NewYork enquiring about my application and was asked to contact CPP-Ottawa instead. Then, I emailed CPP-Ottawa. An email from Ottawa in response had the following statement:

"Our office is responsible for the processing of temporary resident visa (TRV) applications submitted by mail for clients located in Canada and for the online submission of TRV for clients located in North America."

So, if anyone applying ONLINE from the US needs to contact CIC for case-specific information, then contact Ottawa office directly.

I am still waiting for my visa!

If this is the case, why does the their website which lists the processing times for locations outside Canada not list Ottawa as an office location? It only lists NY and LA for USA. Am I missing something here?

I also thought all applications (paper or online) submitted within the US are processed in the US. Apparently that's not the case. The processing times listed for NY and LA are only for paper applications submitted directly to them. Online applications are a different story. We should be looking at CPP-Ottawas's timeline (which is the timeline for applications submitted inside Canada) for online applications. I know it doesn't make sense, but so is the case!
