Hello, everybody.
I have sent my application on November. When I log in to CIC.GC.CA with my client ID number, I can see that they received my application on November 7, 2013. Now it's been more than 3 months and no information from them about my application. I assume, that I have to receive an email from them with my file number and etc... I have couple of friends who sent their applications same month and they already got their file numbers. I am just wondering, because my wife's employer asked her for prove of status in Canada before our work permits expire. So I made a phone call to immigration and they said that they processing applications received on June. So my question is how come others who sent their applications on november got their file numbers and how do I extend my work permit without my file number???

Normally when CIC receives your application they would send via email an AOR(Acknowledgment of Receipt). You should have received if you provided an email address with your application or to your mailing address if no email address was provided. Check you junk/spam folders to see if the email went there. If not you need to email CIC and ask them to resend AOR. Since your application shows up on ecas, you can go ahead and apply for BOWP(Bridge Open Work Permit) as long as your current WP expires in 4 months or less.

I have been checking my email everyday. I am sure I have not received AOR from them. I've sent them an email asking for file number. It's been 8 days since I've sent a request for file number Still nothing.
But here is what I found: cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=349&t=14
Maybe that applies to me???

No, every applicants receives the AOR. Email CIC again and make sure to follow the instructions
