They are making some changes to the system to discourage fraudsters from applying and deporting fraudsters who are already here. As they eliminate much of the fraud from the system, it should reduce the waiting queue's and make it quicker for us legitimate cases to proceed and complete. This is a good move by the government. We all win with these steps.

You are right. Anyone who got married because of visa and not love should be thrown out of the country.

If you are doing the right thing for the right reasons, then new changes to weed out bad wont upset you nor will it affect you. My country are real tight on issuing visas because they opened the door freely in the late 80's n 90's and a lot of those ppl came to Canada and messed it up. Now for a small 3rd world country we have a serious reputation, yet I know so many good ppl, law abiding, hard working who cant even travel for a vacation because of the past. Thats how it goes.

Holy sh!t Mrslwsn...you were right!

I just got my PPR from Buffalo!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO EXCITED RIGHT NOW.

However, as usual, the e-mail is confusing. Here it is:

"Dear Applicant:

This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada. We are now in a position to finalise your application.

Within the next 90 days please submit your passport(s) or a photocopy of all passport pages for you and your accompanying family members.

We also require two (2) recent photographs of yourself and each accompanying family member.

The issuance of your Confirmation of Permanent Resident document(s) is time sensitive so it is important for you to submit your passport(s) or passport photocopies as requested. You must submit these items by mail. We recommend that you submit a prepaid envelope for the return of your Confirmation of Permanent Resident document(s) and passport(s). Please refer to our mailing instructions for further information.

Please note, though your passport(s) or passport photocopies are due at our office within the next 90 days, you must check your documents upon receipt. There will be a validity date indicated, and you must become a Permanent Resident on or before that date. The validity of the Confirmation of Permanent Resident documents cannot be extended. If you are not prepared to live permanently in Canada immediately after landing, please consult the website regarding residency requirements in order to ensure that you retain your status in Canada.

So, it says I must submit it via mail, however when I click on the mailing instructions link it says I have two options that I can mail it or I can drive up to Buffalo (completely feasible from where I am) and submit in person. Buh? I think I will post in the Buffalo thread about that...either way...PPR!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everyone!

Just a quick update for the spreadsheet - my partner's COPR was sent to us on 14th November (Wednesday, the day before ECAS changed to 'Decision Made') and we received the COPR on Friday 16th March.

So glad it's all finally over! Now to land - we've booked flights to Toronto for the 28th May so still a little bit of a way to go, but at least the stressful part is out of the way!

Congratulations to all those who've heard good news and good luck to all those still waiting - good news is definitely on its way! :)

Thanks everyone for all the amazing help over the last few months.

x

Congrats Louise, Welcome your partner to the TDot :))
