Notification of pending interview

Hello, I have applied for a PR visa under the family class and was just informed by the Singapore office that I will have an interview. The letter they sent me said that they will contact me within the next 24 months to give me a date for the interview.
- I'm wondering if anyone has had a similar notification, if so how long did it take to get the interview date from the time of notification?
- Is the interview near the end of a application, just before a decision is made?
- Is this a good sign that an interview has been requested?

After doing an interview what is the average time frame before you get an answer if your visa is approved or denied? Anyone have an idea? Thanks.
