Hi guys,

I hope everyone is doing fine.

I am a Canadian citizen and I sponsored my wife (spouse/applicant). I got approved as a sponsor and we are now waiting for the second stage. When we applied, my wife was unemployed; however, she received an offer and might start working until we get our PPR and move to Canada hopefully.

My question is, do I have to notify CIC or the VO of this change? If yes, then how would I notify them. Will this change have a negative impact on our application?

Thank you, I wish everyone a quick and easy process.

It is not a requirement for the principal applicant to have a job offer/employment arranged but it certainly would not hurt your application.

You could complete a new IMM5669 for your spouse and list their employment. Attach an additional sheet saying they have a job offer once they have status in Canada. Also include the job offer.

There is an address where you can send in documents. It is not the same address that you send your application in. Perhaps call Mississauga, or if you know which VO your application was sent to call them and ask.

Hi Andrew,

My spouse and I both live outside Canada. We already applied and got an approval to sponsor and our file got transferred to our VO. When we applied, my wife was unemployed but she received an offer recently and might start working. Do I have to notify CIC or my VO of this change? The offer she received is not in Canada, it is in the country (Kuwait) from where we originally applied. Thank you.

Oh okay. Well if I was you I would inform CIC of the change just to keep everything in sync.

Other forum members may have differing opinions but basically the forms you sent in are out of date with your current situation.

I wouldn't worry about informing them of a job change it's not required

I've had a couple different jobs and even lived in a different country for 3 months during my application and never told them

All you need to worry about is keeping contact details up to date - this is really important

But other than that you don't need to inform them of any job changes, can you imagine if everyone updated thier information every time something changed your application would never get anywhere

Don't slow the process down by informing them of something they don't need to know
