I had a question regarding the window of next selection. I am just beginning the process and i wanted to know when the next selection window will be. I have heard that it is only open few times a year. Is the windows different for general Canada PR and provincial Canada PR?? Or are they the same?? Where can we get to know when the next window will open??

The general Canada PR or Express Entry (EE) lottery is held every 2-3 weeks on average. If you are part of the EE pool, you can be part of the lottery.

Use this tool to calculate your likely score. Assume what you may not have handy (e.g. IELTS score).
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

Each lottery has a lower bound or CRS cutoff score. If your score is equal or higher than that, you qualify to apply for PR (you get an ITA or Invitation to Apply). You are given 90 days to submit an application. See earlier lottery rounds here.

To be eligible to enter this pool, you need to get two things: 1) English language test score (e.g. IELTS), 2) Evaluation of your education credentials (ECA) through agencies such as WES. Getting these two things done can take around 1-2 months. Once you have those ready, you create a profile for Express entry and wait for the lottery draws.
