Notarizing gift deed

I am so close to sending in my application (can't wait), but have one last question - doubt. My husband transferred our settlement money in my account since I am the primary applicant. He will be accompanying me to Canada. I gathered all the statements and letters, and wrote an LOE, and one last thing I need is a Gift Deed from my husband. Now, the Gift Deed is ready, but when we went to get it notarized, we were told public notary does not do such thing. In fact, we were told that the only thing Gift Deed needs is signatures of two witnesses.
I am kind of stuck at this point with no place to officially stamp this document. Should we only include witness signatures and hope for the best? Or should we not even attach the Gift Deed to the application?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You do not need to notarize the gift deed. It can even be submitted on a plain piece of paper with just your spouse signing the declaration.

well.. I had a gift declaration from my father, I had him notarize it , and wrote a different declaration where I declare that the money in my account is my own and is unacumbered by any debts and notarized that as well.

I might be over thinking and overdoing, but after all the pain in the a.. this proces has coused me, I opted for notarization.

My funds are around CAD 7,000 and my dad has planned to gift me the remaining amount this month to secure them for the future when I am completing application, in this case what shall I do, I mean to proof that the money is not borrowed??

Currently living in West Africa.

am still awaiting my IELTS which should be out in the next 10 days in order to complete my profile and get into the pool.

what is ur advise regarding this?

@Asivad: It's such a relief that the gift deed doesn't need to be notarized. I was panicking. I think we'll still go ahead with witness signatures though.

@Yelena: I know exactly what you mean - I tend to do more than necessary "just in case", and believe me, I would want to get it notarized, but here in Nepal, they simply do not do such thing. We tried multiple places but they all turned us down. Lastly, we spoke to a lawyer who said no one will do it for us because such process does not exist in Nepal.

As it seems the gift deed you submitted has worked, can you please share the format, what other supporting documents did you put together? As we are from same country and you are well aware of the situations here regarding gift deed, please help.

I don't know if it worked or not - I have not received a final decision from CIC yet. We ended up going with just a plain piece of paper with our signatures and one witness signature. We didn't notarize anything. However, the money was transfered from my husband to me, and we are planning to move together. I don't know whether it would work for funds from parents.

Much sigh of relief to hear it from you Asivad. Do we need other supporting docs such as LOE and Dad's ID, his net worth statement etc??

LOE, yes. To connect the dots and make it easier for the officer. No need to submit any ID or net worth statement.

As suggested by Asivad in above threads, we can get this matter printed on plain A4 paper and get the sign from person who is giving money and one witness.
