say i have a canadian notarized letter by a canadian citizen which mentions that when he came to india a few months back he borrowed some money from me.will this canadian notarized letter mentioning a canadian citizen owing me 4000$ act as proof of funds when i land in the port of entry in canada?kindly assist me.thanks

As for funds, bank statements or properties official affidavits only count.

What u r talking about may infer personal interest, thus it loses its creditability

ICEBERG is Correct.
How come the visa officer know that the person whom you had given money will return the same. If he had taken from you he can retrun the same and that can be deposited in bank and that statement would be goof POF.
Visa offices are very particular about POF dont take chance by filing these sort of documents. Promissory notes / hundi/ cheque/ debit notes do not qualify as POF.
