Hi,
I am a male 31 years old from Germany with German passport. Currently I am in the final phase of my computer science master and will write my final thesis during the stay in Canada. I am not connected to any Canadian university. I am also self-employed. I want to travel together with my wife 32 years old (PhD in Sociology and employed at a university in Germany, German) and my son (4 years) in June to Nova Scotia.
My wife will do a 6 month research at an Canadian university as guest researcher. She already got the invitation from the professor. She will not earn money from the university. Also I do not plan to earn money in Canada. Our stay will be little bit longer than 6 months (2-4 weeks). That is why I thing eTA will not be enough for this journey. We already visited Canada last year in May for one month and got eTA approved. The eTA expiration was set to 2022. Since we used it once, I am not sure if they are still valid or if the eTA expires after the first visit.
Even if we don't plan to work for money and have enough funds with us, maybe there will be an opportunity to do a small job at the campus or for an IT company during the stay. What happens in this situation, do we have to apply for a work permit inside Canada or should we do it before?
I am not sure which form to choose at the Canadian website.
Thank you!
