I came to Canada in 1977 with my parents(biological mother an step father). I had always assumed I was a landed immigrant and filled out any paperwork as such.Recently my mother passed away an I started looking at what I would need for travel documents to holiday etc.Upon acquiring my mothers birth certificate it states she was born in 1949 in Brampton Ont. which I was unaware of..Is there a possibility I am a Canadian Citizen? Possibly dual citizenship? Strange things like receiving voter registration cards(even after filling out the part stating i received in error)and people at Service Canada questioning me after filling forms were I mark landed immigrant and they say I show canadian citizen. I do not have any relatives to ask or help with this. Were do I start to find out exactly were I stand? I still have my original USA passport being i was born there. I have filed tax returns since required age as well. I have my original birth certificate from the states,my copy of original Canadian Immigration ID Record(IM 1000),a certified copy of mothers birth certificate, father unknown but papers showing adoption by step father with paper to support name change. Any help to what i need to do would greatly appreciated,Regards an confused
