Hi Guys,

So i have been working for a human resources research and advisory firm, I want to apply for express entry under the code NOC skill level B technical sales.

My duties match the skills on the skill level including these skills that differ from normal sales to technical sales.

- Promote sales to existing clients,
- Assess clients’ needs and resources and recommend the appropriate goods or services
- Provide input into product design where goods or services must be tailored to suit client’s needs,
- Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentation to illustrate benefits from use of goods or services.
- Estimate costs of installing and maintain equipment or service
- Troubleshoot technical problems related to equipment. ( we have programs )

Basically, I sell Research, consultancy services and diagnostic surveys, and HRIS systems to human resources. we then take the data and put it into a readable formats and explain the results to clients and show them how to fix the issues they get from the results. I also sell the use of several diagnostic programs and surveys. Also we sell 3 year training courses for human resource individuals.

I work along side a team of 12 other sales execs who do the same.

My job is a very niche industry, you need an extensive knowledge around Human resources, Although i was taught through training and mentor programs.

i saw this earlier : The letter from your employer Marcus Evans, dated January 23rd 2013, indicated you were employed as a Sales executive from September 14th 2011 to April 30th 2012. The responsibilities listed on the letter of reference seem to match the lead statement and main duties of NOC 6221. And that seems to be accepted or acknowledged as technical.

My company are willing to put down that i tick all the boxes, i just worried this doesn't class under technical sales.

Any advice?

Thanks in advance!

Oli

looks good to me.

I'm just wondering about 2 things :

1 = do you have any related work experience before this one ?
2 = If no, do you have any university, college or technical school diploma related to your job ?

if yes, you're all good to go ;D

I have worked in commercial sales prior but that wasn't related to human resources, and no my education is in musical theatre. I know that sounds completely different but it gave me the confidence and communication skills to sell

So, ask your employer to write down on your letter that you got all necessary training, and, because of your past experience you got in commercial sales, he had all trust to hire you.

this is gonna make all the difference between having a recommend pass or a second review and raising some concerns.

all the best ;)

Thank you for your help! honestly I've been freaking out!

So you believe that human resources and my role classes me as technical?

Any ideas what the actual difference is?

Yes, definitely 6221, keep in mind that part of the NOC is "wholesale" which covers business-to-business sales. However, it would help to add context to your duties - the list you provided is very generic. For example, you need to specify that your "clients" are other businesses, and what products/services you sell. Like your statement above, it always helps to provide a little bit of info about what the company does, so "Our company sells research, consultancy services and diagnostic surveys, HRIS systems, and training courses to other companies' human resources departments."

Thank you! I know need to try and tie my old job in the uk to this as well. It was selling event tickets to pharmaceutical companies. Getting teams and groups to attend our events and then selling post conference materials, advising them on the right events that we hold.

I think i can still match them to make it technical,

- Promote sales to existing clients
Any new events we had or events coming up, promote post conference materials to clients.
- Assess clients’ needs and resources and recommend the appropriate goods or services
They might not be the right fit for one event, or post conference materials, i.e. speaker recordings, presentations may fit them.
- Provide input into product design where goods or services must be tailored to suit client’s needs,
Attending several events throughout the year depending on the clients needs, and who should attend. one event they may need coo the next they may need CIO
- Develop reports and proposals as part of sales presentation to illustrate benefits from use of goods or services.
Send them out proposals of why the event is relevant, statistics of previous events as well.
- Estimate costs of installing and maintain equipment or service
how much it is going to cost for them to attend, how much are the post conference materials.
- Troubleshoot technical problems related to equipment.
this might be tricky, but some of our events clients could pay and virtually attend, any issues with the client not being able to see the event or hear, i would then be reached and sort out.

Do you recon that would be classed as well?

I'm afraid that one would probably be classified as non-technical, NOC 6411... (shown as related to NOC 6226, Conference & Event planners).

@jes_ON , the lead statement for 6221 says:
Technical sales specialists, wholesale trade, sell a range of technical goods and services, such as scientific, agricultural and industrial products, electricity, telecommunications services and computer services, to governments and to commercial and industrial establishments in domestic and international localities
Does the above mean that a person would only be considered qualified for this noc if they sell to all 3 three types of establishments mentioned (government, commercial and industrial) or does selling to one type would suffice? I ask this because the eligibility assessment requires a candidate to meet the lead statement of a noc. Thanks

Any of the above. All three not mandatory. Wholesale excludes direct-to-public/consumer.
