Hi Everyone,

I have a question about NOC classifcation, I dont know which one would be suitable for my job, please advice me as this is quite urgent.

I work as PRODUCTION OPERATOR in one of the leading industry who makes contact lenses and uses heavily electronic machinery systems. It uses Allen Bradley System which are used to operate those machines and I work on that system. My job responsibilities are as follows.

To monitor these electronic systems, find if there is any faults and rectify it.

To liaise with team members and team leader on any issues.

To liaise with technical operator on any major issues.

To check that the systems is giving a correct amount of lenses on its output.

To update the batches and end the batches regularly on the system.... etc.

Please can anyone help me know that what category of NOC (code?) would it be fit for. and which skill set does it fit for like skill 0 or A or B. Please this is urgent and please respond with correct answer as this is very important about my career. Although, i have seen on website but not sure to decide.

Also, a last question, how even if the score is not 67 which is passing one and below it, would my application still be considered. My score is around 60 to 62, and i have very good skill set which i can mention in a seperate sheet to explain CIC officer with some additional certificates as proof and good microsoft skills besides good presentation skills.

Please offer me a advice, I am in great need of help. Thanks guys.

thanks nano,

"Your NOC can be 9421 which is not under present 29 FSW1 category."

do you mean my job area is not valid enough to be applied for an federal skilled worker or is it valid for it?....i have one year of experience in it. and the company i work makes "contact lenses" for customers.

"Wait for list to be updated or get an AEO"

where can i see the updated list and what is AEO.....Please help me as i am very new to it and have very less time for it.

Thanks

"CIC won't accept your application if your score is less than 67. "

Also, when i checked my score as 66 and it was also mentioned in the site below the score saying that...."you may still apply if there are other factors that can make you economically establish in canada". I am confident enough that i can convince with the certificates and my skill set that i would mention in a seperate paper to a CIC officer.

Please advice....thanks once again

To qualify as a federal skilled worker based on points alone, your occupation needs to be on the following list:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

Your occupation is not on the list. Therefore you don't qualify.

You can wait for the list to be updated and hope that your occupation is added. However no one can tell you if/when this will happen. Alternatively, if you have an AEO (arranged employment offer - or a job offer in Canada), then you can apply.

Look, instead I would rather recommend you check HRSDC site (link is there in my signature), and do searches using many words in your duties. There is likelihood you will get one or more NOC, then you check which one falls under the current 29 NOC. or do it vice versa starting with the 29 NOC list.

Keep in mind that you dont need to be 100% similar, you need to do the majority of NOC duties.

Thanks mezo....that gives lots of strength to me otherwise i have lost hope from the answers from other members.

Also, i have checked in for the skill typ 0 but my occupation is not there. with an exact title.

Please can you check for me and let me know....i can provide you all the information you needed from me...thanks

If you look at the current NOC, you won't find something that fits your job duties. You have two options, either get a job offer, or wait till June 2011 for the new NOC. There's an expectation that it will change.

Now to pick the most closest NOC, if you search for "lens", you will get the following. Check whic one suits you well, then you can hunt for jobs thru AEO.

Thanks for reply,

how about if i go for 9517 - other product machine operators. Although, as like you said there is no job title which matches with mine, can i apply to one of it in my application as my job involves some skill and ofcourse operating a heavily Electronic Programmble Logic controller machine, if not in this case are there any other classes through which i can apply for Immigration to canada from UK, if so can you advice me what are they, i also have general sales assistant work experience(2 yrs) in retail store (major area is to deliver customer service),. Please i might be annoying but i am in need of help, please advice me.

It's ok.

Well, you can pick any NOC, but it has to be part of the 29 NOC to apply under FSW. As I said, you have other ways to immigrate like FSW AEO, Quebec PNP, Canadian experience class...

I suggest you go thru this link for more info:

You need to be referring back to the list below every time you find a NOC you think might match your experience:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp#list

NOC 9517 is not on the list. So you cannot apply under this NOC right now unless you have a job offer.

As Mezo2009 has mentioned, this list is expected to change in June 2011. Unfortunately no one knows what changes to the list will be made.

If you really want to apply before June 2011 and you do not have a job offer, you will have to apply under one of these NOCs:

Managers
0811 Primary Production Managers (Except Agriculture)
1233 Insurance Adjusters and Claims Examiners
2121 Biologists and Related Scientists
2151 Architects
3111 Specialist Physicians

3113 Dentists
3131 Pharmacists
3142 Physiotherapists
3215 Medical Radiation Technologists
3222 Dental Hygienists & Dental Therapists
3233 Licensed Practical Nurses
4151 Psychologists
4152 Social Workers
