Hello everyone,

I am in the process of creating my Express Entry profile and would greatly appreciate the community's help in determining the most appropriate NOC code for my position.

My job title is Statistical Programmer at a major biopharmaceutical company in the United States. I am currently torn between NOC 21211 (Data Scientists) and NOC 21210 (Mathematicians, Statisticians and Actuaries), but welcome any other suggestions based on my duties below.

My Job Duties:
  • Extract, prepare, and analyze structured clinical trial datasets using SAS programming to support data-driven decision-making in pharmaceutical research
  • Implement statistical methodologies and data standards to develop and validate analysis-ready datasets for linical trials in Inflammation and Virology therapeutic areas
  • Develop and validate statistical outputs, including tables, figures, and listings to support FDA regulatory submissions and scientific reporting
  • Design and implement advanced SAS macros and automation tools to standardize analytical workflows, improving programming efficiency and accelerating study delivery timelines
  • Apply CDISC data standards, including SDTM and ADaM frameworks to ensure compliance with FDA/ICH regulatory requirements across multiple concurrent studies
  • Conduct quality control and validation of statistical outputs, including code review, log inspections, and compliance checks to ensure accuracy and reproducibility of analytical results
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Lead Biostatisticians, Data Managers, and external CRO vendors to coordinate analytical deliverables and ensure data integrity across study portfolios
  • Contribute to the development and review of statistical analysis documentation, including dataset specifications, validation plans, traceability documents, and CDISC implementation guides
Additional context:
  • I hold a Master of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics
  • My work is in a regulated pharmaceutical environment, supporting FDA regulatory submissions
  • My programming is primarily SAS-based and focused on statistical outputs rather than software development or machine learning
  • I have also seen NOC 21232 (Software Developers and Programmers) suggested for similar roles but am not sure it accurately reflects the statistical nature of my work
I have read through the NOC descriptions carefully, but given the specialized nature of pharmaceutical statistical programming, I am finding it difficult to identify a clear match. Any guidance from those with similar backgrounds or immigration experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
