Hi,

I sent an email to HRDC to get a suitable NOC code for my job and they gave me NOC 2172 Database analysts and data administrators. But I took an advise from one lawyer (the lawyer is approved and experienced as well) and he said my job does not fall under any NOC code, Moreover my wage is $2 less than the required wage rate in this category which is $18.50. Please help me with this dilemma. Following are my job duties I sent to HRDC -

My job title is Product Data Technician -

My company has been operating since 1947 and it is Canada's leading distributor of bearings, power transmission, motion control, belting and conveyor components etc. I work in a Data Management Department as a member of a Product Information Management (PIM) team under the job title of Product Data Technician. My key job duties are as follow -

- Assist in gathering product data from existing engineering drawings, paper records. Collecting products
data from the web by manual search and software applications.
- Analyzing the product data that involves:-

-Identifying, parsing & organizing the product information elements such as products technical
specifications and description.
-Identifying, fixing & enriching the missing and low quality data product data.
-Correcting inconsistency in the products data.
-Monitoring and reporting other data quality issues.

- Manual data entry into relational database from existing paper and electronic records.
- Testing software applications designed by the company for data collection and management process.
- Coordinates with engineers and others to resolve discrepancies.
- Assist PIM Manager and Subject Matter Experts (SME's) in organizing the products data.
- Data management support among team members as needed.

I have also done a B.Tech in Computer Engineering from India and completed 2 Years Business Operations Diploma in Canada.

Thanks

How much time did you want for the answer from HRDC?

I already got reply from hrdc and they have suggested NOC code 2172 database analyst and data administrator, but the lawyer from whom I took advise says its an incorrect code.

it looks like a data collection and analysis job, try to find any category that fits this job.

Do anybody have a idea under which category it should go.

Seems like HRDC is right to me based on your description.

yes, that's what I think as well! Job titles under 2172 are closest to your Job title / description. All the best

I have same issue. I applied under NOC 1212 but I took advice from HRSDC by emailing them my duties but they came up with different NOC. But later on I was suggested by an agent with many years of experience that NOC under which I applied is OK. CEC and HRSDC aren't related. So I would say go with lawyer's suggestion as they can assist you more compared to HRSDC. Many things are related in selecting your NOC. Based only on your duties it can be what HRSDC suggested but by seeing nature of your company it can be different. If I were you I would have taken lawyers advice.

In any case, the only person's interpretation that matters is the IO. Even if you write in your NOC, they have the ability to assess it themselves and change it.

initially I just sent my job description in brief to HRDC, they replied asking me for more detail about my job and the type of company I work in and then they suggested me this NOC code. Thats why I'm so confused. to
trust HRDC or experience lawyer. Is there any other category where this job fits?

I am an Analyst/DBA and have applied under 2172. To me your duties doesnt match 2172 and your lawyer seems right. so i would suggest you to double check before you apply
